How can I support a Volunteer in Ukraine With Donations

Support a volunteer in Ukraine with your heart.

If you ask yourself, How can I support a Volunteer in Ukraine, my answer is based on principles I have put into place since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I support trusted people on the ground in Ukraine because they know best where money is needed most.

I also know that money donated to these volunteers will not be used for personal gain.

I do not publicise the big charities as they have high overheads and bureaucratic procedures, meaning that not all money donated to them reaches people on the ground promptly.

How can I support a Volunteer in Ukraine – Volunteers profiled on this website

  • Canadian volunteer combat medic Brandon Mitchell with the Hospitallers Medical Battalion of Ukraine
  • British volunteer deminer Harley Whitehead with the Ukrainian Volunteer Army
  • Ukrainian humanitarian aid volunteer Polina Shumakova in Kharkiv
  • American combat medic Rebekah Maciorowski (previously a volunteer with the Hospitallers Medical Battalion of Ukraine) is now a combat medic with the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Brandon Mitchell is temporarily away from Ukraine in Sweden, and he has recently successfully fundraised money for a truck for Nika, a combat medic and a volunteer with the Hospitallers Medical Battalion of Ukraine.

Harley Whitehead has recently successfully fundraised for a tractor to help with humanitarian demining in the Kherson area.

Polina Shumakova, a fellow NAFO fella, fundraises for humanitarian aid supplies for Kharkiv’s residents. Supplies include food, clothing, medicines and treatment for specific medical needs.

Rebekah Maciorowski always has an urgent need for life-saving equipment such as CAT 7 combat application tourniquets and tactical IFAK trauma kits.

How are volunteers in Ukraine funded?

The volunteers in Ukraine listed in this post do not receive a salary. This means that they are self-funded and depend on our help. We can help these volunteers by donating to their fundraisers.

Do people who have contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine need donations?

In many cases, very much so. Rebekah Maciorovski, a contracted combat medic with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has a desperate shortage of life-saving medical equipment, as mentioned above.

Additional cause that I publicise on this website

The Greg Terry and Professor Gerdes initiative for raising money for armoured medical evacuation ambulances for combat medics on the front lines of Ukraine. There is a dedicated post on this website about their mission, with donation links. Your donation to their mission will save the lives of soldiers and medics on the front lines.
