Kraków Old Town is Stunning and Memorable
In July 2025, my wife and I made a short visit to Kraków Old Town in Poland. I want to share some photographs I took during our stay with you. I was up and about with my camera between 6 and 7 a.m., and late in the evening, to take advantage of the better light suitable for photography.

Notes About Some of the Photographs
The Cloth Hall. One of the most famous buildings in the city is the Renaissance-era Kraków Cloth Hall (Sukiennice in Polish). It is the focal point of the main market square in Kraków Old Town, the city’s historic centre, which has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978.
The Planty. This is a scenic circular park around Kraków Old Town, where, until the early 19th century, the Medieval city walls once stood.
The Old Town Hall model. The first written record of the town hall comes from 1313. The tower and the building were repeatedly rebuilt. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Austrians demolished the building, and only the tower survived. The model shows the condition of the town hall buildings from the end of the 13th century. This information is taken from the model’s description text.
Where Many Kraków Tourists Do Not Venture
I chose to venture away from the tourist routes of the Old Town and came across some beautiful tree-lined streets: Librowszczyzna Street (ulica Librowszczyzna) and Bonerowska Street (ulica Bonerowska). The photographs below are from Bonerowska Street.

Details about the above photographs.
Restored text on the plaque. Józef Kampf bequeathed this house to the Jewish orphanage in Kraków to honour his own memory, the memory of his wife Salomea Kampf, the memory of his son Leopold Kampf, and the memory of his daughter Bronisława Willer née Kampf. Kraków, 23 November 1924.
Kraków Grzegórzki Train Station
We now venture into the Grzegórzki district of Kraków, a 15-minute walk from Kraków Old Town and steps away from Bonerowska Street. The following photographs are for those of you who are fans (like me) of railways, tramways and their infrastructure.

We Stayed At The Hotel Wielopole in Kraków Old Town
The Wielopole is a five-minute walk from Kraków’s main square and exceeded our expectations for a three-star rating.
The reception staff are welcoming and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, and the bathroom is superb. Breakfast was delicious and generous. This was our second stay at this lovely hotel; we see no reason to stay anywhere else in Kraków—this hotel has it all.
Our Tips for Eating Out in Kraków Old Town
If you’re on a budget or just want a snack, try the Lajkonik Bakery and Coffee Shop at 1 Starowiślna Street. They offer a variety of sandwiches and cakes. Other locations and a full list are on their website.
For a full meal, we highly recommend Pod Leliwą Restauracja Polska (Sławkowska Street 13-15, 31-016 Kraków), just steps from the main square. Details are on their website.
For non-Polish cuisine, try the excellent Khachapuri Georgian Restaurant at Grodzka 3, 31-021 Kraków, also near the main square.
Góralskie Praliny (Highland Pralines) is at 6 Grodzka Street near the main square. The cakes are delicious and generously portioned, and the iced coffee is excellent. Details are on their website.

These recommendations are not affiliate links. I share only places where we received good service.
