27 January 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Worthing Borough Council’s Statement Dated 23 January 2025

To commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day* and to fight against prejudice, racism, and discrimination in today’s world, members of Worthing Borough Council will assemble in Beach House Park on Monday.

Every year on January 27, this internationally recognised service honours the millions of Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust, as well as the millions of others who perished under Nazi persecution and in more recent genocides.

From 9.45 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. we will gather at the Holocaust Memorial Tree in Beach House Park, which is situated in the southwest part of the green area [near the Brighton Road entrance to the park]. Please join us on the day, as it is a public service.

Members of the local Buddhist and Jewish communities will join Worthing Mayor Councillor Ibsha Choudhury. There will be brief lectures and prayers during the service, and the mayor will lay a wreath in remembrance.
