All are welcome

Anyone who has experienced a broken relationship is welcome at New Beginnings. The course assists participants in accepting the past and establishing new beginnings in a welcoming environment. Every stage of separation from not having made the split to having been apart for a long time but still resolving some concerns, is represented by the people who come along. Some people have been married, while others haven’t.

When does the next course start?

This course is free and will take place on ten consecutive Thursday evenings. New Beginnings will meet at St. Paul’s at 7:45 p.m. and finish around 9:45 p.m.

The next course begins on Thursday, 28 September 2023.

How does the course work?

The course begins with a speaker, a meal* and a small group discussion, though you are not required to say anything if you don’t want to. Although not religious, the course is based on Christian principals. It lasts ten weeks, and all are welcome. Despite difficult topics being discussed, there is a lot of laughter, and everyone has a good time during the evening.

*Dietary requirements are catered for.

Participants have said

“I have opened the emotional box and dealt with it instead of hiding it away. I can now move on”

“I now know I don’t need to feel ashamed of my situation and have been able to talk about it and listen to others”

“It has been great meeting loads of people, having fun”

Take the first step

Although many people find it difficult to attend the first evening, once they do, they look forward to it and by the conclusion of the course, they have developed truly close friendships.

Many people from the prior sessions have returned to help out and take the course once more.

  • Facing the effects of separation and divorce

A personal note to you from the author of this post

I attended this recovery course after a broken relationship twice in 2011 and 2012. I can testify that New Beginnings was a life-saver for me.

If you have found this post through a search engine and are in need of help with recovery after a broken relationship, I would urge you to consider attending the next course this September. Although I moved away from Surrey many years ago, I am in regular contact with friends made during my time at New Beginnings.

As mentioned above, the course is based on Christian principals. However, there are no prayers said and clergy from the church do not attend the course. No attempt is made to publicise any aspect of the church during the course.
