Add Another Admin To a Facebook Page in 2024

How to add another admin to your Facebook Page.

There are many posts and forum threads on the internet explaining how to add another admin to a Facebook Page. None of them covered my specific situation.

Add Another Admin To a Facebook Page – This Worked For Me

The solution was simple but no one on the internet mentioned that you cannot add another admin to a Facebook page if you have already assigned Facebook Page Task Access to that person.

The reason I wanted to add another admin to my Facebook Page was in case I accidentally removed myself as an admin. Yes, this did happen to me. I removed my details from Facebook’s Meta Business Suite as I’m not fond of the interface, find it buggy and have difficulty viewing my Messenger messages in Meta Business Suite.

I thought that removing myself from Meta Business Suite would enable me to stop using that platform – but it did not achieve my goal. Instead, I found myself without access to my Facebook Page. I could view the page but could not do anything with it. Because I had been the only admin for my Facebook Page I could not add myself back in.

My only recourse was to contact Meta Business support and ask them to add me back in. They were very helpful and they did reinstate me. It took about three weeks and I had to jump through many hoops, including providing a ton of documentation. The long process I had to go through with Meta Business support is a topic for another post.

Instructions – How to Add Another Admin to Your Facebook Page

The instructions below were correct on the date this post was published. If Facebook changes the process at a future date, you may be unable to follow along using my instructions. I used the desktop version of Facebook for these instructions. If you are using another device, you will find links to cross-platform instructions at the foot of this post. These links will be useful to you if Facebook changes the process in the future.

1. Go to your Facebook Page and ensure you are in your Facebook Page profile and not in your personal profile.

2. Click your profile picture and choose Settings & Privacy.

3. Go to Settings. Under Audience and visibility, go to Page Setup.

4. Under Page Setup, choose Page Access.

You should be able to see your name followed by you in brackets. If you can see the person you want to add as an admin listed in Task Access, click the three dots to the right and remove the person. If you have your desired admin listed in Task Access, you will be unable to add them as an admin.

Add Another Admin to a Facebook Page – Success!

Once I had removed my desired admin from Task Access, I clicked on Add New. This showed up an explanation of what Facebook access means. I clicked on the Next button and under Who should have Facebook access to this Page? I was able to enter my desired admin’s name and could choose that person. Importantly, I selected Allow this person to have full control.

My desired admin received an invitation, was able to accept it and is now an additional admin with full control of my Facebook Page.

The lesson I learned from all this is the importance of having more than one admin on a Facebook Page.
